Frams is one of the leading manufacturers of leather safety footwear in South Africa, producing footwear for a wide range of industries including mining, construction, general fabrication and the military.

United Fram Footwear manufactures in accordance with ISO 9001 and all shoes and boots are produced against the SANS 20345 specification. Frams is also a full member of SAFLIA/SAFLEC and remains committed to supporting all initiatives aimed at improving training and skills development within the local footwear industry.

Frams is the only manufacturer in South Africa capable of directly injecting a combination of Polyurethane (PU) to Thermo Polyurethane (TPU) in our dual density soling process. This combination is fast becoming the global norm as the TPU/PU combination increases the product shelf life, delaying the onset of hydrolysis. We also have the capacity to inject Polyurethane to rubber, as well as a direct rubber soling facility primarily for military footwear.

Frams, together with Wayne Plastics, make up the bulk of the Industrial Footwear segment and are 100% owned by Feltex Holdings (Pty) Ltd, which in turn is a wholly owned subsidiary of KAP International Holdings Limited.

KAP is an investment company with a portfolio of diverse manufacturing businesses. These include processed meat, maize milling, leather products, footwear, speciality fibres, bottle resin, automotive and towelling products. The company is listed on the JSE and employs approximately 4300 people.
